Nicole Sallak Anderson is a Computer Science graduate from Purdue University, and former CTO for a small Silicon Valley startup, turned novelist, speaker, and essayist. She is the author of four novels and a memoir.

In August of 2020, Nicole and her family lost their home, pets, and all their belongings to the CZU Lightning wildfire in Northern California. Many of her essays since that pivotal event have focused on rebuilding a life from ashes, as well as the environmental and societal impacts of housing in an age of climate disaster. Her memoir, Wildfire: Losing Everything, Gaining the World, shares this journey with readers. Wildfire is a story of rage and despair, guilt and hope in the face of an environmental disaster. It is about the sacrifices it takes to be a steward rather than an owner of this beautiful planet we call home. All books are available on Amazon, Audible, and her website.

See what these attendees say about past retreats…

  • “Thank you for such a wonderful evening! I've looked forward to the Summer Solstice event every year.  It's a nice circle of women that I can connect with on a deeper, spiritual level and appreciate the thoughtfulness that JoAnne puts into the event each year.  I look forward to attending the Fall Equinox retreat!” Nicole P., Annual Retreat Attendee

  • “I am so inspired by you! Thank you for everything you do, and for being who you are. Your love and generosity fill my heart. Thank you for having us to celebrate the Summer Solstice and for bringing so many wonderful and inspiring souls together. I thoroughly enjoyed the yoga and meditation, which were both cleansing and empowering. However, the best and most nourishing part was the food you prepared for us. I could taste all the love in each bite - the delicious greens from your garden and the flavors of the summer inspired my senses. You are pure magic, and I am so grateful for you. Basia G., Annual Retreat Attendee

  • “I Loved it! It’s truly one of my favorite events of the year. I was happy to see you were hosting something again.” Stacy D., Annual Retreat Attendee
